An accountable fraction of the economic loss of stores, supermarkets, malls, and shopping centres are caused by shop-lifting. In many cases the damage caused in this manner may reach 2-3 % of the total income, affecting profit production and so the company's successful operation.
The stock protection systems secure goods in a discrete, effective way. They generally consist of three main parts:
- First the protective tag, on the outside wrapping of the stock, etiquette, and a security case for the physical storage of the article.
- The second may well be the security gate located at the cashier desks. These sense the presence of the above instruments.
- The third device is in charge of the, mostly automatic neutralization of the previously mentioned tags, etiquette, or cases. If the neutralization at the cashiers desk fails for some reason (anyone hiding the article, perhaps trying to smuggle it out of the store without payment) the protective gates emits sound and light signals. Besides the actual signaling function, these devices have a preventive, deterrent effect, since the customer may not fully ascertain whether the article holds any protective label.
Stock protection systems applied by ŐRMESTER Ltd. offer an adequate solution for shops of both small and large areas. Upon request our experts will supply and construct these devices in your shop.
In the present dynamically developing trade world, one of the secrets to success is certainly the highest level of consumer service, which also means the most dynamic development and application of stock protection systems. It is for the benefit of not only the trade workers but also the consumers that these technologies are to be used in an extended circle of the field.
Results may easily be measured:
The application of these systems seriously decrease the amount of illegally abducted stock by a fraction of the consumers. The range of honest consumers, therefore, broadens and re-appearing shop-lifters are likely to be kept away.
We measure the possible procedures applied to achieve these goals.
Basically two different procedures are present: Mechanical and electronic stock protection.
Mechanical protection: tying with bands and case application (safes)
- Tied with bands: plastic or metal bands are used, with the help of devices specially formed to serve this duty. This procedure is used at the unwrapping stage, stock stored in their boxes, after their arrival into storage.
- Cases (safes): this type of stock protection includes the aesthetic exteriors and accompaniments. Their design may well be coordinated with any professional profile, offering a wide range of possible application for hypermarkets or even corner shops. The disposal of these protection instruments is managed with a specific opening device, which minimizes the waiting time at the cashiers desk.
- Application of stock protective cages or rooms: These locations may be found in the storage area, well separated, supplied with alarm systems. Specially "sensitive" products are stored this way. Fiscal products, such as high quality liquor, tobacco products, expensive cosmetics, or perfumery. These locations are also monitored by video systems.
- Sample protection: Sample products exhibited in the showroom (computers, cameras, printers etc.) are secured to the surface by wire-cables. The cables' thickness may determine whether they merely serve a physical obstacle (unable to be cut or pinched off with pincers), or if thinner, they may be connected to an alarm system.
- Combination of mechanical and electronic protection systems (cap-safes): These technologies are mostly applied in cases of high quality liquor. A protective device, which guarantees that after setting construction only with a special opening instrument may they be removed at the cashiers desk after purchase. If anyone chooses to abduct products supplied with these instruments from the store the system senses their presence and alarms the security staff with signals about the possible theft.
Electronic protection systems: Protective gates and etiquette.
- Protective gates: Three main technologies are widely used in stock protection nowadays: electromagnetic, accusto-magnetic, and radio frequency technologies, which all operate on the basis of the physical laws of electromagnetic waves. All three have unique construction and specified features of application. However, none of these technologies are adequate to meet all requirements, demands. Therefore, the solution to be selected for a given issue must prove to be the most efficient and suitable one for that particular stock protection task. The protective gates function as sensors and alarm devices.
- Soft and hard etiquette: We need to set instruments on the products for the protective gates to signal their presence. These are the soft and hard etiquette. If these instruments are not neutralized or removed at the store exits the protective gates sense and light- and sound-signal the abnormality at the unauthorized transit. Hard etiquette may be applied for several years, they have a special lock structure and they need to be removed from the products after purchase. They serve to protect mostly technical and textile products. Soft etiquette (protective tags) are disposable and may be set on basically any product. These tags are neutralized at the cashiers desks with the so-called deactivators. Soft etiquette are also used in the case of "safes".
Cashiers stock protection: mirrors and break preventers.
All mechanical and electronic protective solutions are to be mentioned here that are served to ease the duties of the staff and make the shop-lifters "job" more difficult. Such an equipment may be a mirror that helps the cashiers work when checking the trolleys.
- Break preventers: At the closed cashier desks a mechanical arm is turned perpendicular to the walkway. If anyone passes this obstacle by turning this arm away the alarm is activated in the cashiers desk, signaling the transit to the security staff. We might also mention here any opening equipment for the hard etiquette, deactivator pads that serve to neutralize the soft etiquette tags.
Naturally many more smaller procedures, solutions, and "tricks" help protect your stocks. It is essential that we employ prepared experts to deal with these technologies.
